Removing microdrives completely?
Can you remove both microdrives completely and does the QL work ok without them?

Re: Removing microdrives completely?
The microdrives can easily be removed - they are each held on by two screws at the top, and one underneath. There is then just a flexible ribbon cable to the motherboard, but I warn you - it is a real pain to replace it (following Tony Firshman's advice, I use a cut up chip socket and attach that to the cable before plugging it into the board).
The QL will work fine without microdrive units (although I did come across one which did not recognise MDV2 as existing without MDV1 in place!).
You do of course need another storage device, such as your disk drive
