Re: British BBQL+
Hello Alain,
Out of interest, are you able to show pics of the internal RAM upgrade? Was it something purchased or a home made upgrade? It is in very nice condition.

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.

It is an internal memory upgrade kit called ql640 I purchassed in 1988 for 101 pounds from Sector software (don't know real maker) and used for a while on my first ql until I skipped to SGC...
The kit includes socket, ship and capacitor and needs some IC remove, pins bend, replace. Not too complicated but has to be done carefully. It worked very fine for me. Internal ram extension is automatically disabled if an external ram is here.
Here are pictures of the 3 pages manual I carefully kept but I am not going to open the ql if still out of interest

See last page of the manual Alain has provided.RalfR wrote:Hmm, is it a fast or slow external memory?

Re: British BBQL+
Internal RAM expansions are slower than external expansion, the Trump Card did speed the ram access slightly,.

Well, briefly the Q40 is fitted with 32MB of Ram and Romed with smsq/e v3. 35. Housed in micro atx pc tower. Two multi io controllers plugged in Isa slots offer 4 ide/Ata units, 4 serial ports, 2 centronics ports and 1 game pad. Included devices are 1 CF card unit as master storage, 1 Zip 100mb Ata unit, 1 hard disk of 10 gb and 1 CD audio/data reader. Also tower includes an embedded amplified sound stereo system which could be switched to the sound source on the Q40 or to the CD-ROM player.Pr0f wrote:I'd be interested in more detail Alain.
Obviously the total external look is PC like as shown with following picture.
