I do like the TR7 though - it was a good car in it's day.

The FC was a comfortable drive - and with near 50/50 weight distribution it was fabulous on the country lanes

Yes, good handling, a bit daring on the design front but I think it's aged well.

I remember watching a TR7 convertible with a v8 on youtube, the scuttle shake nearly threw me from my computer chair

They did actually build a few TR8's with the rover V8 lump in them. Even with that small V8 they were still front heavy.

I had a Green Drophead (Triumph name for Convertible) TR7, which was a really nice car to drive, but the wings and front panels started to rust badly.

I did look into fitting a Rover SDI V8 3.5 Litre engine, which did seem easy, just a new engine mount.

I still have the Triumph TR7 and TR8 V8 engine manuals and parts lists.

Strange they recommended fitting the V8 through the top of the car, when I would of fitted the gearbox to the engine and installed it from below.

But I eventually sold the TR7 in its rusty state, hopefully it is still running now.

Those 70's cars were prone to the tin worm... Shame, but it makes good ones as rare as hens teeth now!
