If you just use plain sockets and put the resistor in a jack, it works. Much cheaper than sourcing the switched jacks. This was in answer to Derek’s add-on, not the original design. Not that the termination was ever any good anyway.

IIRC it was Tony Firshman solution to dodgy QL Net sockets - just shove 3.5mm plug into unused socket with 330ohm resistor across it.

The sockets were so cheap and tarnished Sinclair was probably paid to use them.

Almost as bad as the CPU socket.

The Rear panel only has 8mm of space between the case top and the VGA & SER sockets.

I tried putting 2 x 3.5mm sockets with switch and terminating resistor over the VGA socket there was no room for the installation.

There is room for 1 socket between the VGA & SER Sockets, but this limits the QL NET functionality of the Q68.

So I think, the twin sockets should fitted to the right hand side, so I have drill 2 x 6mm dia. holes with a 8mm dia. x 1mm counterbore for the socket securing nut.

A little more work, should worth it.

For clarity I have only drawn the barrel of the QL NET Connector. The curcuitry will be attached to the top case cover with enough length to connect to the Q68 expansion port.

The QL NET connector hole is 6mm dia. with a 8mm dia. x 1mm counter bore to accommodate the QL NET connector securing nut.

The Blue dashed line is the inside of the case.

This soft makes the case modular and similar to the QL NET modification I did for the later Q68 cases.

An alternative solution to keep the QL NET connections on the Back Plate would be to have a slight taller case: Makes the Q68 have 14mm more head room, maybe for a possible expansion board...
