As the battery in my Gold Card no longer works, is it OK to just remove it and leave the Gold Card without a battery, in case the flat battery leaks?
I've never really relied on the battery backup clock anyway, so I probably wouldn't miss the battery, assuming the Gold Card can work without the battery installed.

Re: Gold Card Battery
Out of interest, what is the purpose of the battery in the Gold Card? Is this like a CMOS battery?

Provides battery backed clock and a few unused bits in RTC chip hold settings for AUTO_TK2F1 (boot automatically as if you pressed F1 with TK2 extensions enabled, AUTO_TK2F2 for F2, AUTO_DIS cancels). Also SCR2EN/SCR2DIS for second screen and FLP_JIGGLE (fix for some drives). IIRC only 4 bits, but CMOS like settings
