FPGA replacment for the ZX8301 ULA and more
Re: FPGA replacment for the ZX8301 ULA and more
Thank you all.
I sent a new version to Peter and hope it will work this time.
In the benchmarks for the first time it scores exactly as the original.

Not the same ULA replacement. A different version, both PCB and CPLD, than mine.
Re: FPGA replacment for the ZX8301 ULA and more
After a lot of trial and error, the logic now supports the KM4164A-15 DRAM used in many German QLs.
But it fails with GoldCard and SuperGoldCard as I already suspected.
I have to stop further experiments at this point, because I don't want to wear out the ULA socket.
Still some stretch of road to go until this becomes a general ZX8301 replacement.
Thanks Leon, for the work done so far.

Thank you Peter for the patience to test the logic.
I'll try to find a GC/SGC to test with.

Hi,
Just repaired an Issue 6 QL, fitted the new ULA, Tetroid TDI, Minerva:
This QL boad has had the SER, CTL connectors removed, for a parts sale and the Keyboard connectors, require replacing, or a new SCHON MkII replacement keyboard.
But it all work and auto boot with the AUTO_TK2F1 command.
The ram is TMS4164-12, as with the Issue 5 board, this must be a standard with UK QL boards.

Back to the topic.
I have finished with the hardware. In the final version I use MC68H001 at 15Mhz in the 8bit bus mode and I added a mouse port.
and this is the usual benchmark results
there is also a small board for the ports freshly soldered (not cleaned) with VGA, audio, PS/2 mouse ports.
There is space for the micro sd maybe I'll add it to this board.
I have to write a mouse driver.
