Post by sevol »

Interesting, there are interested persons is engaged by realization Sinclair QL on FPGA? For example as it do with zx spectrum 128 in Russia to Ukraine well and other countries???

Clearly that isn't present better Sinclair QL than the original, but all
Sinclair QL + ps/2 the keyboard + an exit on svga the monitor + hdd is a continuation of development Sinclair QL.

I remember years ago I came very close to buying a Peters Plus Sprinter but they went out of production. Those mini boards would fit great in an original QL case and the VGA socket would sort a lot monitor problems.

http://zx.pk.ru/showthread.php?t=10983& ... t=Sprinter
It is a not advertisement, and example of the use of FPGA. We until now have for sale Sprinter - 2000 and Sp2002s and Take-home pays of VGA -конвертеров. for the independent assembling. Sprinter, s is difficult in adjusting . Collected patch of ReVerSE less than in size in 2th variants, http://zx.pk.ru/showthread.php?t=13223 and http://zx.pk.ru/showthread.php?t=13223 is used Altera Cyclone III EP3C5/EP3C10 as a chip on the type of ULA. And as FDD and HDD is used load of SD/MMC map

Those are great designs. I know some modern and powerful ZX Spectrum clones, but never saw those ones.

But I'm afraid that, because the QL scene is much smaller than the ZX Spectrum's, it's very difficult to achieve a "critical mass" for hardware projects. Maybe that's why software emulation is the prefered choice.

Another aspect is portability: An emulator lets me use a QL environment in my current system.

Anyway such a project would be impressive.

Hi,
I love this idea. I would like to have a replacement motherboard which can be fitted in the original QL case. The microdrive slots could serve as slots for memory cards or USB (?). The FPGA could contain extended Graphics modes such as Aurora or Q40 or the Goldfire (from Nasta) which unfortunatly did not see the light of day.

Some links to FPGA projects:
www.fpgaarcade.com
www.natami.net

Is somebody here who has further FPGA knowledge?

cheers,
TH

Hello all,

searching through the web for QL things I came across this page, where a reconstruction of the QL on the base of propeller chips is shown: http://propeller.wikispaces.com/pPropQL
As far as I see,the system is not running completly and it seems that this project is not continuing anymore, but I thought it could be interesting to look at what people have done.I like things like that, nice build!

Greetings,
Vassilis

That board is very interesting, but I don't see any contact details for the designer.

I would love to talk with them :)
