A question about my game, boxed version or just for free?

Post by vanpeebles »

Are people fussed about being able to buy a boxed version of my game? Part of me is thinking, it will be a lot of work getting boxes, sorting labels, posted etc. At the moment, I'm half tempted just to release it for free on the forum, with all documentation etc etc.

Please post with thoughts. The game is ready to go at any time really, then I can start on the next one!

Would it be an idea to shortcut with Rich from Sellmyretro? He is selling boxed Game-Packs.

Could you tell us more about your game and share a screenshot?

By all means if Pete wants me to market the game and produce the boxes - I am more than happy to do so - I have already enjoyed play testing parts of the game :D

Sounds like a plan, I'll get it all together this weekend, and send you what I have. My only issue is that at some point in the near future. I'd like to put all the ACT code for it online for other people to experiment with.

Hi,

Why not put a cut down version of the game for downloaf and sell the full version.

The problem of publishing the ACT code, that ACT is still commerical and not officially availanle to all QL users.

Personally, I bought the DP Collection and use ACT on the Q68.

Regards,

Derek

My code is still my code, you would still need act to compile it.

Depends on your goals. If you want to maximize the number of people who try and play your game, a free download here and on Dilwyn's QL software page sounds like the way to go.

ACT is the Adventure Creation Tool - written by Steve Sutton and published by Digital Precision. It is similar to Quill, but incorporates the ability to add graphics and sound

There was also an earlier version, (APT) Adventure Programming Tool, again written by Steve, but was published by Shadow Games - https://qlwiki.qlforum.co.uk/doku.php?i ... ation_tool
