Saw the video linked on Facebook and watched it. Good video.
Your QL is almost ready. Just refurbishing a pair of really top notch microdrive units for you, then I’ll put it on a 48 hour soak test.

HI,
I am glad the magazines arrived okay in the USA, as shipping to the USA is sometime a problem.
The Maplins box came from some Maplins PC Case AT style, Beige in colour. Left over from the Q60 production. I have 6 of these cases and boxes.

If you decide to make some more Q60s, you're all set. You can do 6 "retro editions" and then start using a more modern case.
I'm still on the hunt for a small enclosure. Something about 8" x 8" x 2" would be ideal.

If only there was a satisfying solution for the flatscreen monitor issue! Re-casing the Q60 would be so much fun. I think about this for years, but can't find a good way.
The best picture is still achieved with CRT monitors. But then it wouldn't be portable.
- Chip replacemend 1024x768 with black bars (existing): Very clear display, no interpolation on 1024x768 monitors, supports most devices, but: Unused areas
- Chip replacemend 1920x1080 with double scan and interpolation (probably doable): Full screen area on FullHD, but: Interpolation visible, supports fewer devices
- New graphics card: Technically better, but: Huge amount of work, mabye more than one PCB, effort not much less than a new Q60
- New Q60: Technically ideal, but: Extra work if machine is kept 100% compatible, high costs, takes away "retro" character of the machine
