Raspberry Pi emulator state of play...

What is the current most compatible Pi QL Emulator, and who maintains it?

Hi Dave,

This might help: https://dilwyn2.wordpress.com/2017/02/20/uqlx-2017/.

(As recently seen in MagPi magazine! Page 94. Free and legal pdf copy at https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi-issues/MagPi69.pdf.)

Cheers,
Norm.

Hi Dave,

I would say smsqmulator, the java based emulator maintained by Wolfgang Lenerz. Its more capable than uQLx, which I have also tried, as it runs smsq/e. uQLx, gives a more basic QDOS QL emulation. It does run faster than smsqmulator and I expect it is more stable in the recent release. For smsqumulator gets a useful speed out of the emulation (slightly faster bogomips than the Q68) with a RPi 3 with a slight touch of over clocking or the just released RPi 3+.

Being able to run SMSQ/E is always attractive.

Being written in Java and having an active maintainer, I wonder if Wolfgang Lenerz has tried implementing any interfaces using the GPIOs?

Just been playing with a Pi 3 and SMSQEmulator....

It's a bit faster than my Q68.

Surprising.

Haven't ever been able to get uQLx to work at all.

I'm glad you showed up :D

I got uQLx running on an older Pi 2 but not on this Pi 3. Don't know why.

Any possibility of uQLx growing to support SMSQ/E?
