I don't know how a QL ended up in Brazil, but it has many friends there.

Since we got Internet, eBay, etc, it's easy as anywhere else... :D
But back in the 80's, in our closed market, very few were smuggled in... more popular models like the ZX81 and ZX Spectrum were successfully cloned, made locally and sold around South America... Sinclair Research even sued our local manufacturer "Microdigital" for copying the ZX81 ROM... and lost the case in our courts... :geek:
We also had local clones of every mainstream Apples, PC's, Atari consoles etc, but a QL clone was never attempted... probably not because it was hard to copy, but because it would be surely hard to sell around here...
