Q.A.T.S - QL Application Traffic Supervisor

Post by RWAP »

Q.A.T.S. - QL Application Traffic Supervisor is another program listed in the Qubbesoft public domain catalogue.

Does anyone have a copy as it is missing from Dilwyn's site.

According to the blurb:
This program is a powerful utility designed to reduce the number of keystrokes needed to perform housekeeping and task manipulation on your QL. Q.A.T.S is menu-driven and the inbuilt menus can be tailored to suit your own particular QL setup and working rhythm in order to maximise your productivity. An extensive Instruction Manual is included in Quill format which includes exercises for the novice user.

Q.A.T.S. provides inbuilt facilities for:
- Initiating and returning from the PSION jobs (expanded memory only)
- Initiating and returning from other EXEC'able, SWOPPER and S/BASIC programs
- Sophisticated wild card filename processing
- Fast copying of files, deleting files, formatting media, managing jobs
- Media directories, alphabetically or other sequences with file sizes
- Comprehensive printing package including background printing

I seem to recall a (not exactly positive) review of Q.A.T.S in QL World while it was still a commercial program. Will have a look tonight.

Regards,
Tobias

Dilwyn should have a copy of this (SPECIALS1 disk).

There is a scanned manual at:
http://sinclairql.speccy.org/archivo/docs/sys/QATS.pdf

Unfortunately, there is no information about the supplier - so if you can find an advert or information to add to the QL Wiki, please add it to this thread...

There's a few doc files with the copy of QATS, but a PDF of the original manual would be good too, I'll be putting this and Home Finance on my website this evening if it all goes to plan!

Ah, if it's COPE I seem to remember they had classified ads in the back of QL World or QL User with the big headline "Cope Announces The End Of the ICE Age" - they must have been competing with Eidersoft's ICE ROMs at the time.
The QL World index program (Chris Adams) says that QATS was reviewed in November and December 86, page 24 of both issues, if that helps, Tobias.

Yes, that helps. Dilwyn - About halfway. If you could tell me where I mislaid that box that holds my QL World collection, that would be the other half

Surely the question is 'where is the last place you would look' - they are bound to be there :D

No, the real problem is when I start reading old QL Worlds/QL Users I'm there for hours reading all the interesting articles instead of getting some work done
