Re: Colossal Cave by David Stevenson
I looked on that link and downloaded the zip file, but could not find anything about Colossal Adventure or the author David Stevenson.
However, it is the version in the Quanta library, so no action needed

The description on Quanta Library disk GS03 (not word for word):RWAP wrote:I looked on that link and downloaded the zip file, but could not find anything about Colossal Adventure or the author David Stevenson.

Colossal Cave: A text adventure game by W. Crowther, converted by David Stevenson to run on the QL, associated files Ad1_file to Ad6_file, Ad_boot, Ad_bin, started by running ad_boot or EXEC ad_bin
D. Stevenson has other programs in the Quanta library too - snake, disdir, dishdr, disxdir, pipedr - a prolific author!

All,
if it helps solving the copyright issues, I have used the last half hour to get publicly available sources from here
http://www.ifarchive.org/if-archive/gam ... dv370s.zip
tweak them through c68 and build a working binary.
If you want, I can send it tonight for publication.

Re: Colossal Cave by David Stevenson
That would be great. I haven't tried the one in Quanta library to see if it runs on modern systems, so that would bring it up to date for QL systems too without infringing any issues with the version in Quanta library.tofro wrote:All,

Here's the description:
Colossal Cave - originally produced in the 1970s, this was the historic first "interactive fiction" game where you type in what to do next in simple English in a computer presented scenario. Originally written by William Crowther in 1975, enhanced in 1976 by Don Woods and ported to many computer systems since, it has now been ported to the QL by Tobias Fröschle. Play the role of someone exploring the Colossal Cave system in Kentucky, but beware, although there are rumours of gold and treasure, magic is afoot - you are in a twisty maze of passageways (all alike!)... See the README_TXT file after downloading and unpacking the zip file for instructions - basically, point DATA_USE and PROG_USE to the directory containing the program files and execute the ADVENT_EXE program. (51K download)

If it's there, and you can't see it, it's transparent
It's there, under "Colossal Caves" behind Dilwyn's link.
Maybe you have to press F5 to load the page directly instead from cache.

I can see it now too. Thanks!
On Q-Emulator it runs on a window and I can't play it.
