Your favourite QL "music"/tune/"beeping"?

Post by QLvsJAGUAR »

Just wondering what your favourite QL audio outout is?

May it be out of a game, demo, or (BASIC) program using BEEP...

My favourite is the Music of the game Pengi.

Good question this as I can't really remember anything special for the QL soundwise. Is the sound capability/specification of the QL even less than a 48k speccy?

AT least the QL BEEP is louder than a Speccy :ugeek:

The QL BEEP command has a variety of options compared to a Spectrum one, e.g. stepping, randomness, repeat. QL multitasking also means sound can to some extent be played by a background job.

When the QL Sampled Sound System (QLSSS) came along, it became possible to play .ub sound files on some systems which handled this, e.g. Amiga emulator, Q40 and more recently QPC2 and QemuLator. There are a few games on QL which make use of this, e.g. Tobias's QJewels and Per Witte's D-Miner - both available to download free from the Games page on my website at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/games/index.html plus of ourse Wolfgang's sound extensions to make it easier to use these sound files in your own programs (soundfile at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/sound/index.html) plus some software from George Gwilt and Jonathan Hudson to create, play and convert sound file formats.

There, that should keep Urs and vanpeebles busy for a bit
