I'm looking for a S*BASIC app, possibly by Tim Swenson!

Post by NormanDunbar »

Afternoon All, it's me again!

I have a vague recollection in the back of my mind, that Tim Swenson wrote or published a utility to assist in writing S*BASIC code without line numbers etc. I've fancied giving that a go for some time now, and now that I'm in the middle of writing something in S*BASIC, I though I'd give it a try.

For the life of me, I can't remember what it was called and I'm suspicious that it might not have been Tim that wrote it! The big question is, does anyone know what I'm talking about? and where I can get my hands on it? Please. I've been through Time web site, read all his ZX/QL magazines -- that was a fun half-hour distraction -- and searched/scanned Dilwyn's fine web site for anything to give me a clue, nothing popped out at me.

Cheers,
Norm.

Can recommend that one. Tim and I used it while developing QLirc. Takes a little getting used to, but worth the effort. Also on my site at

Thanks Dex, that's the very one I was looking for. Also, your link to Tim's page came up with a different page to the one I had a link for! SSB wasn't on the page I had a link to, so that explains why I couldn't see it.

Much obliged.

Cheers,
Norm.

Thanks Dilwyn. It looks like Tim has updated to 2.7.2 available at http://swensont.epizy.com/ssb272.zip, if you wish to update the version you have currently got.

I searched your site and didn't get a hit, not surprising as I searched for "Tim Swenson" and he's listed on this one as "Timothy". I should have also tried that. My bad.

Cheers,
Norm

Hi Dilwyn,

is "env_bin" available anywhere on your site as a standalone download please? I can only find it as part of the "lynxrun.zip" download. I've grabbed it from there, so it's not a problem, but Tim's manual for SSB mentions that it's available "everywhere" on the internet -- but these days, not so true I'm afraid.

Cheers,
Norm.

Interestingly, the search box on my site fails to find that one, in my phone at least. Will investigate when I get home.

Thanks Dilwyn. The search only found it in the comments for "lynxrun" for me. I searched for "env_bin" and alo just "env" and got the one hit, bith times.

Cheers,
Norm.

The search on your site does not indexes the real file names nor the full path links, only the link description (the alt text).
The alt text for http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/tk/env.zip is Environment Variables v1.07 and that is indexed
