QL Radar (QL World mdv exchange no.58)

Post by Chr$ »

Here's another title that was part of the QL World Microdrive Exchange (no.58).

Part of it was also a type-in from the March 1988 issue:

It is by Nigel Ford and seems to be the predecessor to 'Radar' which is shared on Dilwyn's page, here:

Thanks to the listing in the magazine, I was able to fix corruption in the the RADAR SuperBasic file. The radar_doc Quill doc was damaged badly, so I've re-typed some of it and included it but as a _txt file.

The RADAR.ZIP is a qzip and RADARMDV.zip is a windows zip of the mdv image.

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.

Excellent - do you know how it differs from the version on Dilwyn's site?

Mine is 'set' in the UK and the other version is in Saudi Arabia 'in a war zone'.

The one from the QL World cart has 2 parts and I think in the other one they may have been combined somehow. The QL World version says you should try RADAR before RADAR2. I haven't really compared them in great detail, think the changes are fairly minor.

From what I remember, the version on my website was found on a disc of PD software from one of the USA groups many years ago. The REM statements say it was contributed by Joyce Blaho, with some troubleshooting modifications by Peter Hale (who used to run the software house Emsoft) and further modifications by Ed Kinglsey (who I *think* was a member of the New England QL group. Afraid I don't know the details of the changes made to it, as I didn't know it was from MDV Exchange.

Chr$: is it OK if I add your version to my site as an alternative, updated version?

Yes, of course, but your existing one is newer - March '88. In my version there is 3/7/87 in a REM statement.
