WordPerfect has also produced a WYSIWYG version for MSW$, my brother used it in his company, but I don't know if it was adapted for Macs too.
It is still maintained by enthousiasts but under a different name, at least it was shown a few years ago at a computer fair in Holland.

I had an early 90's (late 92 I think) version of WordPerfect for the Mac which was pretty nifty. But Quill came out almost 10 years earlier so had I used it in the mid 80's I think it would have compared well to Word/WordPerfect of that time. I did demo WordPerfect from 1983 in one of my #DOScember videos and it was very, very plain. I may have an early version of Word sitting on a 5 1/4...need to see if I can find and read it.
