I've been slowly getting as much of my QL software off diskettes and onto my PC's hard drive.
It's quite impressive how many disks still work, but a few alas have not survived the ravages of time. Although I took copies of all my software, in some cases neither the original nor the copy works now, and I was hoping somebody could help me out with a few files, if they have them themselves.
Today I copied over my Digital Precision Collection - 10 disks. Thank goodness for the backups as most of the originals are flakey! The files that did not make it are:
Disk 3 - CPORT_zip
Disk 8 - the whole disk (neither the original nor the backup are readable)
I can provide proof of purchase by way of a photo of the original disks and the pale blue printout from DP congratulating me on the purchase if required.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

That is not for me to decide. Various people on forums moaned that I was doing this so I no longer offer the service.Outsoft wrote:

In reality what we need is more people to track down the copyright holders and obtain their permission to make more QL software freeware. Unfortunately, there are very few people interested in doing this

It is legal to provide someone with a back-up copy of software that they already have in their possession. Particularly if it is degraded by time.

Re: DP Collection: a plea for missing files
I have been offered copies of the missing files and I have sent proof of ownership, so no further action necessary here - but thanks Simon for your offer.

This is my understanding too. I'm no lawyer, but it does just seem common sense.Dave wrote:It is legal to provide someone with a back-up copy of software that they already have in their possession. Particularly if it is degraded by time.

Re: DP Collection: a plea for missing files
Hi,
I have been converting the DP Collection to FLP images and use Martin Head's excellent FDI driver to load the FLP images onto the Q68.
The FLP images are stored on a QWA file on the FAT32 partition on the Q68 SD Card.
Most DP software runs perfectly in Q68 DISP_MODE 1 (512x256 4 /8 Colours).
All except Qmaths, does seem to work on SMSQ/E on Q68 or Minerva, JS ROM on Q-EMulator.
Pity as it looked a nice piece of software.
