Thank you for the updates, the distribution is a real goody bag!

Today is the release of the final version 3.04 of “QL IS 30 2014 – THE DISTRIBUTION”. This marks the end of my “QL is 30” activities.

The new version comes with the latest versions of SMSQ/E (v3.25) and SMSQmulator (v2.18) carefully integrated into QL/E, QL EMULATORS, QL ON A STICK and ZEXCEL SPECTRUM EMULATOR. Late additions in the SQPP exclusive gems part are the original QL Demonstration software by Sinclair Research Ltd and the QL SCREEN-COLLECTIONS (QLSC). QL/E has been vastly improved and now supports at least seven (7) QL compatible platforms (QPC2, SMSQmulator, QXL, QPC1, QemuLator, uQLx and QL-SD). Plus many improvements and tweaks here and there. This new and final version of “QL IS 30 2014 – THE DISTRIBUTION” fits again on a DVD, previous versions were slightly over the limit. Almost perfect.

Update package (248 MB ZIP file) is available now. If you have previously downloaded an earlier version of THE DISTRIBUTION then this may be a path for you.

The update procedure by a standard ZIP file is easy, works on all platforms and is good enough for most people (especially novices). It has one specific drawback, it leaves deleted files in place. If you want to have 100% what's in the complete distribution, you have to download the latest full package.

Thank you for putting this release out.

I was paying regular visits to you pages, I remember there used to be an interview with Linus at Zoo?
Also there used to be a source to Linus QL famous frame buffer code, I am not able to locate it anymore.

Can you please advise?

It found in 1992 that the Serial of the QL have problems...I know it very well

WIth Hermes and Super Hermes it works really better ^_^

Well over 1000 copies of THE DISTRIBUTION have been downloaded since the availability of the public download in April 2015. Maybe not the biggest Release in QL software history, but quite a figure.

Because today is an important date for me and with the upcoming First Sunday of Advent, I decided to produce and release a RELOADED edition of THE DISTRIBUTION. It is out now! Follow link in the signature.

Thanks Urs. But I noticed the djw directory is missing from the archive. Is that intentional?

My pleasure.

The folder djw was a snapshot (local copy, ) of the great Dilwyn Jones website as of 20-01-2014. This snapshop is almost 6 years old, hence completely oudated. And it was relatively small and handy at that time (595MB). Because Dilwyn does frequently update the website and most people nowadays have decent internet access, a static local copy is not the first choice. And, keep in mind that Dilwyn's repository is really huge nowadays. The last time I did a snapshot of Dilwyn's site (with WGET) it resulted in a 8.85GB (!) local copy. That's an increase in size by a factor 15.
