QL missing the ID number

Post by klausfrank »

I got very surprised when I looked at back of a QL I got at a fleemarket. The was no ordinary ID on the back, only a small label with the text AR 112817. Anyone who know about this way of marking.?
Regards

PS. Take care.

I've had them like that before (my Finish model just had an AR sticker). I believe it denotes a Frankenstein QL, made up of parts that were leftover or repaired in the past.

Urs explains it better:

"QL's reworked/refurbished/repaired after DOA return have a white rectangular sticker with a printed number in the format AR1zzzzz, where A stands for AB Electronics, R stands for Rework and zzzzz is the sequential number of the rework."

From: http://www.sinclairql.net/build_standards.html

Not sure if they can therefore have both a green stamped serial and an AR sticker.

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.
