SGC and mystery sound

Post by lowrybt »

All of a sudden, my QL is issuing an arcade-like electronic trill or warble during disk operations (format, read/write/copy) using an original SGC connected to two 3.5 floppy drives. Any thoughts on what might be the cause?

That's the "your disk is dying" requiem.

(S)GC sings this on disk read errors.

Trying to write on discs that are write protected or otherwise faulty can cause this. As writing is done in the background long after the write request has already completed it can only complain by sound.
