Indeed. I was only thinking about it from the POV of a few simple S*BASIC extensions.

If someone wants to write those extensions and demands a driver, it's trivial to adjust my program accordingly. Lets first get something working at all instead of discussing drivers and nothing ever available.

I don't think anybody could hear that difference. I certainly couldn't ;)
4. ZX Spectrum sound files contain blocks of compiled Z80 code, less suitable for 68K
OK, I've never seen one of those.
5. I ported & wrote a working QL software that can directly play Atari sound files on AY.
QPC beta users have enjoyed AY emulation for a year (two chips). I have a working player for VTX, YM and even the quite complex PT3 format. Of course QPC doesn't care about the base frequency, it can emulate any. Most good songs I have are PT3 turbo sound files for the Spectrum, however.

Oh yeah, I also have a driver and a QSound compatible interface. I'm just trying to decide where to go from there.

The point is if someone makes an AY hardware available. If it uses 2 MHz, I offer to support it with my software. For myself, AY hardware has low priority at the moment. The Q68 might someday be released with the AY support I showed at the Sinclair meeting two years ago. I won't (and probably can't) change the frequency to 1.75 or 1.7734 MHz.

Probably he means the Qsound bill of materials, which looks like:

1x AY-3-8910A
1x MC68A21P
1x EPROM 2764
1x 74LS03
1x 74LS10
1x 74LS266
1X 7805
1x DIN socket 64 pin
1x Jack socket 3.5 mm
1x Pin Header 26 pin
3x Resistor 1K
4x Capacitor ?

That would have to be answered by someone who has a Qsound board. I was just looking at the photos posted here.
