Various QL Add-ons

Post by RWAP »

Ben Versteeg has opened a thread on World of Spectrum showing a small collection of hardware he has - does anyone recognise anything I am unsure of?

About unknown interfaces for our BBQL, someone of you could tell me something about this? :

It seems to be an eprom reader/switcher but I've no info or manual of that...
One of the two eproms has this phrase inside: "History Device v1.23 Copyright 1993, Octagon, Berlin"
the other one is also in german language but there is no copyright message.

Thanks in advance
Paolo

Paolo,

this is obviously an EPROM card. They were kind of popular in the early nineties as read-only storage. It could be the Falkenberg EPROM board - have never seen one, though.

From what I can read on the EPROMS:

IO2 used to be a toolkit from German author H.-P. Recktenwald http://phpr.tripod.com/e-qhpio2.html
History is the History device driver (gives you a command line history using cursor up/down in SuperBASIC). Activated using HIS_DEF #0,128

The EPROM without a sticker will most probably have lost its contents due to sunlight.

It is defenitely the QFlash EPROM card (I also have one).

They also produced a very fast RAMdisk, which also incorporated a mechanism to load a complete MDV in one go (like RAMPRT from QJump).

Here is an article from QL World April 1987 about this board, it has some details about it.

This seems to be another version of the board, which takes four EPROMs. MIne is the same as above with three ones, I have never seen the the other one.

If anyone has a manual for this board, it would be helpful to get it scanned for the Replacement Manuals page on my website.

The same goes for any rare hardware like this of course!

And this is the history eprom:

If you think that the contents of eproms could be interesting for the others, I'll send to Dilwyn the bin files.
Cheers
