Retro-Computing/-Gaming Picture Gallery release.

Post by QLvsJAGUAR »

Lucerne, 12.12.2012 – For immediate release

Today is a very special day. It’s the last day - at least for this century - on which day, month and year (short form 12.12.12) are the same numbers. It will take “us” more than 88 years until January 1st 2101 where the world will have the next date with the same logic (01.01.01), but only if the world will not end on 21.12.12. ;-)

To celebrate this very special day - I mean today, not the 21st ;-) - I decided to spend some time and bring another long running retro-computing project to an (intermediate) end. The “Sinclair QL Picture Gallery” (SQPG) version 3.10 is to be released today. It consists of 1693 exclusive pictures in 68 folders and is available as an online experience on my cloud based SkyDrive web-presence. Details and links can be found on the “Sinclair QL Preservation Project“ (SQPP) webpage and on my QLvsJAGUAR YouTube channel.

For those interested in more general Sinclair- and Retro-Computing/-Gaming, please notice that there are specific Picture Galleries for Sinclair (Microvision, ZX range, C5, Z88, etc.), Computers (Amstrad, Apple, ATARI, Commodore, DEC, NeXT, SUN), ATARI JAGUAR, NUON and other Video Games. Just open the Picture Gallery using the 3rd link on the top right side on my YouTube channel.

Take your time, surf by and enjoy the images. You better do this in the coming days to make sure not missing something. You know, just in case the world ends next week. ;-)

Always remember: “QL forever!

Have a great holiday season, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Cheers, Urs

Loads and loads of photos on there! :o

Is that your red Alfa 156 2.5 v6 on there? I had a dark blue one that I just parted company with this year. I had an Atari Jaguar a while back too and also a 7800.

Yes, the red one was mine (between 1999 and 2007). I drove with it to the QL2000 show in Portsmouth. https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=C ... 80CE5A!733

The Jaguar is some sort of a cousin of the QL. John Mathieson and Martin Brennan who are the designers of the cat are ex Sinclair staff. Richard Miller who was head of R&D at ATARI is an ex Micro Peripherals and Sinclair Research employee. So the Jaguar is a Brit and not a Gringo.

Ah I didn't know that about the jaguar. The 156 was a lovely car, I changed the cambelt on mine and did a full service, I also fitted an equal length exhaust manifold. There wasn't much room to move about in that engine bay! :D

Nice car! And kind of rare (untypical colour for an Alfa Romeo, model for left-hand traffic, great engine 2.5l V6), you should have sold this to an Alfisti. ;-)

BTW: I'm currently driving the silver 2007 2.4l JTD 20V Sportwagon which is also on my picture gallery.

Cuoro Sportivo is my second best slogan beside of QL forever! Now we're back on topic.

The sportwagons always look great, how do you find the 2.4 diesel?

I am a bit concerned about the amount of space under the bonnet on the AR. There is still room to get some cigarette papers in there and still close the bonnet. Talk about efficiency!

Haha I like it. The cambelt is just under that black metal plate on the left, you had like an inch and a bit to work in. :?

I like the elasticity of the engine and that it only consumes some 6.2 litres per 100 kilometers the way I drive the car.

I had to show the car for first inspection at the "Department of Motor Vehicles" (after 7 1/2 years insted of 4 years, they have such a huge backlog) last Thursday. As one has to show up with a clean car and even more clean machanics I've made a picture of engine.

Looks brand new! Sadly the engine on my new car looks a bit more agricultural .That test sounds a bit like the MOT test we have here, once a car is three years old it has to be tested on a yearly basis.

Do you fit winter tyres over there?
