Grohe Logo done on a QL

Post by Chr$ »

I've just been talking with someone here in Germany about his QL haul that I'm hoping to buy. He was involved in CAD and also produced and sold a CAD program for the QL.

The waves logo for the German Sanitary/Bathroom product company Grohe was designed by him on a QL. He was also involved in calculating magnetic navigation deviation for submarines. He says that at the time (not sure if 80s or early 90s yet) PC's just weren't up to the tasks.

This is the current Grohe logo with waves, I haven't been able to find the original/old one.

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proved excellent for mdv data recovery.

No.
At least that's not the name of the man that I am getting the 'haul' from, but I suppose that doesn't mean he wasn't involved, or they were both involved. I'll ask him.

And 'haul' was probably an exaggeration on my part! It consists of a QL built into a PC case, inc an original Gold Card, hard and floppy controllers of some description and I think a keyboard controller for an AT keyboard as well as the original HDD, dual floppies and I'm not exactly sure what else is inside. Separately there is also a QXL card (fascinated by that, but will need a PC with ISA slots to try it out), 2 CRT monitors, 200+ 1.44mb 3.5" disks and some hand books and related literature.

I get to see it all on Friday!

In this part of Germany it's already Sunday ;). I posted details on the haul here:

Particularly excited to have a QXL2 with 8mb RAM. And the beast of a QL setup in a PC case!
