Hi everyone,

When I was living in London I had the Sinclair ZX81 and then the Sinclair QL came out! I bought it as soon as available with a Microvitek Cub monitor. I can't t remember for the life of me what ever happened to my QL. I bough it with all games that were available at the time and a lot of books :) the first thing I did was teach myself programming and I wrote an assembly language program to backup my games on Microdrive cartridges. I was so pleased with myself when I was able to play the games on the backups I made. So after not being able to find my QL I decided I would search for a new one. I finally found one that is like new, comes with all the PSION apps in their microcart folder and the original folder with 4 blank microcars both unused. The QL was used one once or twice.

I got it for 120 quid, did I pay too much?

I already have a list of games Im ordering from Rich and looking for Any books on Psion Archive and any books on assembly language and anything original. I ordered Tetroids SGC and ROM switcher and Power module and a VdriveQL. I have a dual 1.44mb HD floppy drives. Anything else you guys think I would need to program and play games and apps?

All suggestions welcome!

Cheers in advance!

Bill

Hi Bill,

Watch out for those microdrive cartridges. It is possible that the foam has perished and could pretty much destroy itself when used.

You can get better versions of the Psion programs from Dilwyn's web site, the home of everything QL. The psion stuff is at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/psions/index.html. Xchange is worth getting if you wan't to run from a hard drive. I think it runs from floppy too.

Cheers,
Norm.

Hi Norm,

Yup, the first thing Im going to do is check the foam on those pesky microcars and replace if necessary. I will download the PSION stuff from the link you sent.

I can see the Archive development and runtime tools there. have you ever seen them?

Also do you think 120 pounds is too much to pay for a new QL?

Cheers

Bill

I've never used those versions, no, so I can't really comment. Maybe someone else might have something to add, failing that, give them a try and see.

Cheers,
Norm.

Hi Norm,

What I meant was the tools are not there and if anyone has them or knows where I cold get them I would be very appreciative

Cheers!

Bill

Hi Bill,

sorry, my misunderstanding. I suspect that those versions of the Psion tools are still in a commercial state and therefore cannot be made available.

Cheers,
Norm.
