My late mother used to run a B&B up in Scotland. She always laid on bowls of fruit for the guests to help themselves from. One day and American guest eating an apple asked:

"Excuse me ma'am, what are these?"

His wife said "Stop it, don't do it again!" but he carried on asking.

"That's an apple", replied my mother.
"Ma'am, back home we have apples this big!" Indicating the size of a football (soccer ball)
"Yes" replied my mother, "we grow them to fit the size of our mouths too!" :D :D :D

The guest's wife was highly amused.
