Oddly I have met Mr Swenson more times than any other QLer even though he lives a few thousand miles from me (lots of work in bay area).

A first QLer Meeting on my trip was on Sun June 24th at Paul Holmgren‘s home. Last met him at the Oakridge Show way back in 1995.Image

Today I had lunch in Silicon Valley with John Mathieson and Richard Miller, both former Sinclair Staff. Wonderful!Image

Sunnyvale, eh? Not so far from our own US offices in Moffett Towers :-)

I'm due another visit there soon - I'll make a point of seeing who's around on my next trip...

Wow, an original unpopulated QL PCB, that is pretty cool. The rest of course, too ;) Looking forward to hearing what you did a whole month over there :-o

Cheers, Marcel

Yes, it is. And, it's an early issue 4 PCB used at DVT/PVT stage in about February/March 1984.

At Paul's place we went through the remaining stock of his former Mechanical Affinity business. Paul still has his famous "QL is space" T-Shirt "Where No QL Has Gone Before".

I selected the most desirable items to me and took them with me to give them a new home at my Lake Valley Labs.

Another highlight alongside the D03 QL (Issue 4 PCB, PM firmware) and the naked Issue 4 PCB are some CLA2345 DVT samples produced in week 43 and 44 of 1984. The CLA2345 is the 2nd edition of the ZX8301 ASIC which was designed for the FCC and VDE compliant editions of the QL eventually manufactured by SAMSUNG in Korea (S13 build standard for US, SG18 build standard for Germany).

Full story coming soon in an unboxing video on YouTube. Stay tuned...

QL forever!
