Very sad news indeed. I was fortunate to have had many long conversations with Stuart at Microfairs, workshops and other events. I was present at the launch of the Gold card at the Horticultural Halls at Victoria and remember well the buzz about it at that event. We once met him in the centre of Brussels for an event in the 90's, he had traveled from York very light using only public transport, a ferry and a bicycle!

Can you remember when that was?

Would be very early 90's. Possibly the last ever Traditional Microfair at that venue. They moved to Sandown racecourse I think after that. I think it was around the time Minerva MK2 was released, TF Services table was about 10 feet from Miracles table in a corner.

I am fairly sure Stuart moved back to Yate in South Gloucestershire (My old home town) I suspect that it may be possible an announcement may be made in the local paper at some point.

I seem to recall Miracle's address was also in Yate (Littledean) at some point in the 80's before they moved to York.

I remember I bought my Gold Card in October 1991 in Eindhoven, I traded in my Trump Card for it (still have the invoice).
They showed the QXL (at least a prototype of it, I believe) in June 1990 at a Dutch meeting in Hardenberg and the Winchester disk in 1989 in Zijtaart.

What a terrible loss to the QL Community !
So may we offer our deepest sympathies to his family and freinds.

This brings back fond memories of my deceased father, who liked what I was doing on my JM 128ko QL, and paid for me to buy a SuperGoldCard, which is still in terrific shape and enabled me to make great strides of progress.

Stuart was a real QL genius...

Regards,
Steve Poole.

Stuart was such a smart guy, fun to talk to. I remember well the QL shows where we've met. He and the Miracle Systems boys were an enrichment for the QL scene in the post Sinclair Research time. He did so many great things. In memorial to Stuart please find this 2 minutes video snippet of the 1990-10-28 Italian QL show in San Felice Benaco

R.I.P. Stuart.

The last couple of weeks I re-viewed all the DVDs from the Italian QL community and compiled this playlist for the QL community:

Stuart Honeyball / Miracle Systems

Thanks to Antonio Gareffa (ANT Videoproductions) and other Italian QL friends there’s video footage of many 1990s QL shows. Published with their permission. Thank you very much for this great work. Grazie mille!

QL forever!

Very sorry to hear the sad news about Stuart.

BTW, Brian Pain died of a heart attack a few years ago.

Hello all

I appreciate this is a thread that is a few years old now - apologies - I was gutted to read this news after Googling Stuart's name.

After clearing out my office recently I came across my Trump Card and Super Gold Card, which prompted me to delve back in to the QL World
after many years.

In roughly 1990, I asked Stuart if he could advise/help/guide me with my 6th form electronics project (I wanted something based around the QL)

Not only was he very kind and open with his help - I stayed at his house for 3 days (at the time, the base of Miracle Systems) whilst he
taught me how to build a prototype of a SCSI interface (using the QL's ROM port)
(He knew it wouldn't be commercially viable due to new regulations coming in about electronic devices - I didn't really understand the
legislation, but I thought it was a brilliant technical workaround to use the un-used pins on the ROM port to make it R/W)

I loved hearing about the early days of the original Gold Card (coating it with freezing foam while they tried to resolve overheating issues),
and him idly pointing out that the poster of the inside of the Motorola 68020 chip they had on the wall was incorrect - the ALU was pictured in
the wrong place - he knew because he took one apart out of curiosity....

A very sad loss - and a person that I'll always think of very fondly
