ZX-TEAM Meeting 2018 Mahlerts, Germany

Happens this coming weekend. I know, a bit late to announce but the folks in the closer area of THE Annual Sinclair Meeting in the heart of Germany should already be aware of it.

Intention is - like in the previous years - to document the event with a walkthrough video, plus videos of the presentations. Of the previous years (2014 to 2017), there are video playlists on YouTube (seek for ZX-TEAM, Mahlerts or Sinclair Weekend April 2014):

Hi Urs,

I watch all your videos, the quanity and content are excellent.

I do wish I could get to the show, but I have some other constraints.

The QL was also present in 2019, remembering 35 years QL and 20 years Q60:

Demonstrated were three generations of QL mainboards: Original, Q60 and Q68. All three had some highlights to show:
  • Original QL using the QLWA filesystem on QL-SD
  • Q60 booting SMSQ/E directly from 256 KB ROM, thanks to self-decompression
  • Q60 running from FAT32 formatted SDHC card
  • Q68 with QL NET, communicating with 3 original QLs and even a ZX Spectrum
  • Q68 as bridge between QL network and SERNET, allows QL talking to Q60
  • Q68 with experimental AY3-8910 3-voice programmable sound generator
  • QLwIP native TCP/IP stack running on Q68 (experimental)
  • Q68 as primitive webserver, upload /download between PC and Q68 over ethernet

Urs, by the way the "buffer full" issue you noticed during file upload is already fixed. QLwIP advertised a TCP receive window that was too large - which caused the PC to send more data at once than the CP2200 ethernet controller of the Q68 could buffer.

I have been looking all over for a modern, available, economical case like the Q60 case. The only options I see are generally micro-ITX designs. There is a local discount electronics store chain that gets all Dell and HP's off-lease hardware, and they often junk out micro/mini PCs if they're beyond salvage. It might also be an option to get these cases and refurbish them into something interesting - since they are at least a little stylish and would look good in black, with new badges.

I hope it was a good meeting :D

Modern compact cases often lack the external 3.5" bay for floppy.

I was considering a case like Q68, just larger, with custom front/back panel, and a slot adaptor so cards can go horizontal.
For just Multi/IO it's doable (the white flat case in the picture above contains the active Q60 - the board on top is just for show).
But ethernet makes things a little too high.
