There are some manuals for this on Dilwyn's site :

http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/docs/manuals/in ... #qlprinter

Seems the Serial interface connections are :

RS-232C, 25-pin D male.

Pin configuration of the input connector.

PIN SIGNAL EXPLANATION
1 FG Frame Ground
3 RXD Input data
7 SG Signal Ground
20 DTR BUSY/READY state fo the printer
ON (+3 ~ +25V) … Ready to receive data
OFF (-3 ~ -25V) … Busy

so from QL - Ser1, you want these connections:

1 >>>> 1/7 on printer DB25

3 >>>> 3 on printer DB25

4 >>>> 20 on printer DB25

leave other connectors unconnected. (For serial 2 use 1, 2 and 5 instead of 1, 3 and 4)

Need to use it on my German QL so DB9 to DB25 (with the same connections of the BT SER1 port on QL side).

Simon,

on the DB-25 end, 1 is "Shield" (which is normally GND) and 7 is "signal ground" (which is normally GND as well). For non-exotic applications like QL-to-printer, that is the same. So, feed 7 of the 9-pin to both 1 and 7 on the DB-25.

On second thought, shielding (the mesh around the wires) should only be connected on one end of the cable - So, if you connect the shield to the printer end (1), leave it open on the QL end and vice versa.
