68k/OS additional ROMs

Post by dex »

Several times I have met this picture:
Image

Do you know, who has this interface?
I am interested in image of the two leftmost EPROMs (EDIT and DEMO PROGS), just to try to analyse structure of the ROM disk (because I want to place the 68k/OS utilities, which are stored on microdrive, onto the ROMdisk - this will be useful to store the utilities in an image for internet download or for use with emulators, as now you cannot have an image of a 68k/OS formatted microdrive).
Don't you know?
I already asked Urs König. Someone else?

I used to have one of the 68K/OS boards and cartridges, which I think ended up with Marcel Kilgus.

For those who ever wanted an original GST Sinclair QL EPROM expansion card with their 68K/OS Z570V218 and the associated Microdrive Cartridges 68K/OS and 68K/ASM, there's currently a set on ebay (ending 2024-04-24):
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305516991319

BTW: This auction also includes HiSoft DevpacQL and CP/MULATOR. I'm not the seller nor related to him.

It would be great if someone of the QL community would take good care of it and - after refelting the Microdrive Cartridges - make backup copies of those Microdrive Cartridges. Maybe one day, someone adds 68K/OS Microdrive support/emulation in a Q-Emulator or even on hardware Microdrive substitutes.

This is probably the worst thing you could have done if you wanted it preserved, I know some preservation people were intending to bid on that, but now they are likely to be outbid by collectors now they know its "RARE" thanks to these posts!

Got your point. Maybe. But better some community members of the forum to buy it than some random ebayer. That was my thought.

BTW: I have such a unit in my collection for about 15 years now and tried my best to make backup copies of Microdrive cartridges back then. But what I failed at (yet), is to transfer the files to another medium or the PC.

My main area of interest was original boxed games MDV's (I love using MD carts)

But with so called bidders getting "already in progress" auctions taken down (with less than 24 hours to go) to "do a bulk deal" (not fair on the general QL enthusiast BTW, they should take their chances like everyone else) and the ridiculous high prices being paid for boxed MDV games on eBay at the moment I've decided to move my interest to unusual hardware from back in the day (a use for my spare QL)

So, yes, I purchased the 68K/OS as it intrigues me

I don't know what category I fall under, so if I've upset anyone by buying it I'm sorry you're upset

Woohoo, so we know who bought it, so we can have some picture of it running etc :-D

I remember when 68K/OS came out. I wanted to get my hands on it, but as a student on a grant, I couldn't afford it. Then it just seemed to disappear.

I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers,
Norm.

Thanks. Am looking forward to (hopefully) seeing what it's like
