After all of the effort, it is nice to see the QL Wiki working well in its new home - although it is still disappointing that nearly all of the updates since the change-over have been undertaken by Norman or myself.

It still needs contributors from the community.

I have also now secured new homes for the ZX80/ZX81 Forums and the Z88 Forums - these have been taken on recently by the German ZX Team :D

We could now do with some more administrators for the Facebook group "Sinclair QL Owners" - https://www.facebook.com/groups/30699392074
and the page "Sinclair QL" - https://www.facebook.com/Sinclair-QL-32408594350

Funny thing - I was just writing up some info about things I released to add to the wiki on the weekend.

I didn’t know about the fab group. I’ve asked to be added.

I noticed when linking to the QL WIki from Facebook it does not always grab the screenshot of the program (if there is one) in the preview.

Could we change the template to highlight the screenshot (or other jpg?):

For reference for everyone else (its way down this thread), the current URL is:

Better find something better soon. I only get some mickymouse stuff when I click on this link. Couldnt QUANTA support some of these sites/projects financially? (Wiki, Dilwyn, etc). What else are they going to do with the money we send them every year? Id be willing to re-join if they did something genuinely worthwhile for the benefit of the "QL community"..

Hi Rich,

I had a look at the article you linked to. It's for Wordpress only. We are using Dokuwiki, so none of the solutions would apply. Unless this one could be implemented somehow:

Code: Select all

<link rel=”image_src” href=”preview-image-here.jpg” />
that needs adding to the head section of the generated html, but how could we then get the href correctly generated for each page.

Another fly in the ointment is my total lack of, and willingness to open, a Facebook account. I don't have one and will not have one, so I'm unable to test anything.

I did have a look at the Dokuwiki plugins that are available, but none seem to allow wiki stuff to display in the facebook page, they seem to be allowing your facebook page to display in the wiki page instead.

Not sure if we can do anything to fix facebook's problems with the wiki software I'm afraid.

Cheers,
Norm.

Ummm, that link is out of date. The QL Wiki moved under the wings of the QL Forum some time back. You want to go to http://qlwiki.qlforum.co.uk instead of the byethost url - that has been allowed to die.

See this thread for gory details: http://qlforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2089

I've re-registered as an editor and made a couple of small changes. It is well worth reading the wiki software's FAQ before getting started. EG: the way to create a new page is to reference the page from another page, then click on the link to the non-existant page and create it by editing it.

I'll go slowly at first. Mostly cleaning up my own entries...

The new wiki software is very flat. Everything is just a file at the same level, there's no nesting. It does mean a lot of scrolling. I'll get the hang of it.

Yes I think the main issue is adding images, as most images are at root level so it can take a while to access the image library.
