I think that always depends on who the person is and what their motivation is. There is some insane stuff out there on retro platforms :-/

Re: PiStorm
I sort of lost focus when it was hard finding Pi Zero 2W's at a reasonable price. I'm sure you can get them now again but during the pandemic it was impossible unless you wanted to pay a lot for them. I also think the person most likely to do this would be lliont since his ZX8301 replacement is sort...

Re: SD Card Reader
Both QIMSI and QL-SD give your computer a WIN image (i.e. hard disk sized). If you want microdrive emulation, you have three other choices. There is vDrive, there is OqtaDrive, and then a new one that gives you MDV cartridge-sized solid state drives. The latter one needs to be installed internally, ...

Wasn't the Super QL design a tower? I'll have to grab my "Delete: ..." book to check.

Re: what is the difference between a ql microdrive and the spectrum version ?
The net effect for me is that the single ZX Microdrive I have has trouble reading QL formatted cartridges. It formats and reads fine on my Spectrum/IF1 after I refurbished it a bit. I think on a few occasions I got a directory listing connected to the QL, but could never get it to read anything. Her...

Re: Hooking up modem that draws power from serial port
I haven't been able to find any documentation on the modem. It was sitting in my drawer for 20+ years. It matches the QL look (actually more the ZX81 with its red lettering). I wonder if it's designed to deal with the range of voltages. On wikipedia it says that some "RS232 compatible" dev...

Hooking up modem that draws power from serial port
I'm playing with an old modem and am trying to create a cable for it to use on my QL. It's tiny and doesn't have a power input (Stowaway 2400 Vocal). Modem.png I initially thought it used the power from the phone line (like telephones did) but plugged it into my WIndows laptop and got it to recogniz...
