Re: Next Gen QL…

Hi,

I had thoughts about a Q60Cube, but it seemed that I was too late as Apple had got there first.

But now a Q60 Shuttle would be the thing.

Re: sQLux v1.0 (The Xmas Turkey)

Release v1.0.5 now contains the sound and joystick code from @Exile Thanks for the update. I know OS like tyche bigger than the standard ROM that work in the real world don't in emulators but if say the top of the ROM that exceeds the 48K is chopped and put as SYSROM = tyche48k.rom ROMIM = tychetop...

Re: Upgrading Q40 to 68060 CPU

Hi 20 years ago, it looked to me that there no one wanting to update Qliberator to produce compiled object code that would run on a Q60 with the Cache on. This may of a bit of paranoia, due the organisef negative compaign by Qbranch and QL Today. But lets not dwell on the bad old days of the QL, Qli...

Re: Upgrading Q40 to 68060 CPU

It's all too long ago and I have no personal interest in Qliberator, but I'm 95% sure there is (also) an issue with copyback cache. The default cache setting of SMSQ/E was reduced to writethrough just for Qliberated software, which of course cripples the Q60. Selfmodifying code? HI, Since we have t...

Re: sQLux v1.0 (The Xmas Turkey)

Hi Xora,

I downloaded your new update, compiled okay and runs very well, I thought the documentation is good as well.

Well done.

Re: Upgrading Q40 to 68060 CPU

Hi, I will have a look in my Q60 spares, for a suitable CPU, which are in long term storage. Be interested to hear if you have a suitable 68060 CPU available :). Got a few parallel projects going on at moment so whenever you get time to look into your long term storage is OK. I still have a PiStorm...

Re: Upgrading Q40 to 68060 CPU

Hi, To convert a Q40 to Q60, requires a 2.4v/1.3w zenner diode to replace a wire link and fitting a LT(LM)1086CT-3.3 with heat sink. The Q40 came with Fastpage ram, the Q60 requires EDO Ram 60ns The Q40 had a 80 Mhz oscillator fitted the 68040 reduced the clock speed to 40Mhz. As Peter as stated a r...

Re: Upgrading Q40 to 68060 CPU

I hoped to use a 68060RC50A so that it would run at full speed of 50 Mhz. I did not complete this, as the Q68 got in the way. Don't forget there never was PLD support for 50 MHz. If you use a 50 MHz oscillator with a PLD designed for higher speed, you will get inefficient DRAM timings and a wrong f...
