Re: Monitor repairs

I used to take my CRT monitors to a place in Stevenage - but that was a long time ago - not sure if he'd still be there after all this time. I am guessing due to size and weight you are going to want to find someone local to fix them. Somethings you could try - particularly if the monitors have been...

Re: CRT syncing issue, any ideas?

You were lucky you didn't cook off all your chips - most of them will tolerate 6V - but no that much more...

Re: Happy Birthday!

To be fair to Sir Clive - an awful lot of other Software companies and some hardware companies have done the same thing since, not that this excuses the late delivery - but I was very happy with mine when it came :-)

Re: Happy Birthday!

What was the actual "Release date" ? ;-) I remember picking up my first QL - a JM ROM version, back in middle of 1985, along with a TV / Monitor, and then buying a proper Philips monitor about a year later to get the full scan width in... An upgrade of ROMS to JS followed soon after too...

Re: Green Screen problem and poss. a new ROM.

What I am trying to say is that Minerva may return from the test (passed) with a lesser amount than 128kBytes and go on to boot. Tobias Agreed - it does say this in the Minerva manual - and warns you may end up with not very much RAM if this happens! My guess is that if the faulty RAM is in the fir...

Re: USB Keyboard IF

As your matrix switch is actually a 12x8 - that gives you 4 extra lines not in the 8x8 matrix - so you have some spare lines for those awkward control keys - as you can't put diodes inside the chip's matrix.

Re: USB Keyboard IF

Pr0f, anything particular you want me to test? So far I only tested the basic combinations with CTRL (e.g. CTRL + arrow left) and with SHIFT. This works well. I do not have a Hermes, so I can not test Hermes specific things. Peter, fully understand your demand. Probably this is useful to you: http:...

Re: USB Keyboard IF

Nice project - does it deal with CRTL, ALT and SHIFT keys and combinations of those with other keys - the IPC code has some special cases - particularly with the HERMES IPC replacement - that you may want to handle.

Re: I hate snipers

I hate the auto bid bots. My usual trick if I really want something is to look around to see if anyone is selling the same item - and if so whether there is a buy it now for a sensible price - quite often I'll watch the same thing on several ebay items - and if one goes silly on bidding - I will tak...
