Re: Books about SuperBASIC
I ought to also mention the SBASIC/SuperBASIC Reference Manual, as no-one else has mentioned it. It's basic premise is a rewrite of the QL Keywords and QL Concepts sections, with up to date information covering the QL, Minerva, SMSQ/e, the Thor and Q60 - plus a whole host of public domain toolkits (...

I have sent you copies of the original GST Assembler and the Macro Assembler (including microdrive, disk and Quanta versions!)

Re: A seat in the lifeboat
Well, there are at least 3 different SD card solutions in various stages at the moment.
The one which connects via the microdrive socket is probably the best solution going forwards, as it does not tie up any of the QL's main expansion ports.
The Q68 has always been an interesting project for me.

Re: Preventative Medecine
You should be OK with this QL for a while - I think it has a new membrane in it already ! The main things to remove to see the PCB are the two molex keyboard connectors, and the set of LED wires (6 in a strip) - although they are a REAL pain to get back in and one will normally come loose as you pus...

Re: Metacomco (or other) assembler in MDV format
If you can send me some proof of ownership (by email), I will send you the necessary files - I can't remember if q-emulator can save to microdrive image files (I don't think so), but I can let you have them as a QL Zip if that is any good?

Re: Microdrive data line format
The problem with 128K maximum, is that some of the later software is bigger than that already!

Re: Microdrive data line format
Right - Simple enough. I wasn't realizing that you can mis-use higher MD drive numbers for a control session. Again: Very interesting project! Keep on with the good work! Tobias Yes - this could be a possibility, as not many people would be using mdv8_ for example, but there are a couple of issues ...

Re: Hello - New QL owner in need of some advice
Hi Rich and welcome to the forums. I see you must be the one who recently bought that QL from another one of my customers - he is unfortunately having to sell up his collection - some nice pieces in it too! Actually, I think that this QL may well have come from me in the first place :D A CUB has to ...

Re: Microdrive data line format
Yes - this looks good work - the main issue going forward is going to be to try and get around the 255 sector limit. I would also aim to have this as a replacement which could fit in either the QL's microdrive slots, or a ZX Spectrum microdrive unit - that would open it to the widest possible market!

Re: Using Microdrives Today
Surely the mechanics of how data is sent to and read from the tape is the same - after all it's the same ULA and you can use a Spectrum microdrive unit with the QL - it's just the way it's stored on the tape which is different.... Didn't realise there was anything in the Advanced QL user guide - - i...
