The other thing to check is whether any of the pins in the expansion connector are bent - quite often this is the cause of issues!

I have a customer in the US after one to go with some other items they have ordered from me.

No-one seems to have any spare CTRL keys left - you may need to get a different keytop which would fit and use a label!
