Re: Battery backed ROM

I had something similar to this (see left side of my QL picture here https://www.kilgus.net/ql/my-ql-of-yore/). But that was a private development of a friend of mine and probably only a dozen cards or so were ever built.

Re: Serial port

I basically don't use any software on the QL that doesn't need a mouse... you could do worse than downloading QPC and try the included demo harddrive. Or any other emulator and the QL/E distribution for example.

Lookup the AH section, should probably be the same with your JM.

Re: QL FORUM on actual QL ?

Ofcourse, by QL I don't mean original one. Sure, such can't machine probably wouldn't do ssh en/decrytpon for https, but might do everything else. Windows came on 7 floppies for a 33 MHz processor with 640K Ram and worked fine on the internet. Back when the Internet meant a 56kBit modem at most and...

Re: Hermes status

No problem with that, as long as it works. BTW does the TL866 programmer program them (or is the programming voltage too high?) I don't think any commercial programmer newer than 20 years supports this chip, mostly due to the voltages I guess. I build one myself instead http://www.mattmillman.com/p...

Re: Hermes status

That's great news actually though prices of 8749 have gone crazy. Original IPS should really be forgotten. I ordered 5 for 10€ from eBay. Of course they were used but easily erased ;) I would love to see Lau's original sources as they are always so nicely commented. It should be possible to re-crea...

Re: Hermes status

After some prodding by me the binaries have been released under the GPL. I needed it for the QL MiSTer implementation because the original 8049 code had problems with key-rollover and the missing keystrokes drove me mad. The same is theoretically true for the source code, but Lau has it somewhere in...

Just read this today. The common heap is still there as always, it‘s just not used until all „fast memory“ is exhausted.

Re: QL on the Raspberry Pi...?

Direct3D is a frigging complicated API, mapping that to another API, including all the vertex shader and pixel-shader stuff (QPC's are as minimal as they can get, but still), is nothing short of a miracle if you ask me. Anyway, all my Mac and Linux machines are headless and Wine doesn't seem to like...

Re: QL on the Raspberry Pi...?

Wow, that is quite an impressive feat from Wine then. Do the drivers behave differently when you maximize the window (i.e. have more than 1x magnification)? That was the reason for creating it in the first place, zoom behaviour on current Windows systems is very poor with the DirectDraw driver. No h...
