Re: Issue 8 and WiFi
I very much doubt a standard QL would have the speed to do TCP/IP at a reasonable speed, it would need some sort of hand-off device doing the leg work. Trying to use the built-in serial ports at anything more than 300 baud is really out of the question due to the overloaded keyboard chip doing the r...

Re: What video display do you use?
Either a cheap (Dixons/Currys) 24" LCD TV via a home-made SCART cable (RGB), assisted by a battery to tell the TV to switch to RGB mode.
Or a 14" Ferguson TX RGB TV via the 7-pin DIN input.

Re: Microdrive felt pads (again...)
I don't s'pose anyone has a supplier for the felt?
I bought some 8-track felt from the 'States via eBay and unfortunately the felt just falls apart when you cut it down to the 4mm x 2mm dimensions required for cartridges. It was the stuff I could find on-line with any sort of stock.

Serial port 12v supply rating.
Do any of you know the maximum current draw the serial ports on the Ql can handle? Basically I'm looking at using the 12v supply to drive the Composite Video/RGB switching on a SCART connector (pin 16) which is specified as 3v, up to 20mA. I s'pose with big enough resistors in the voltage divider ci...

Sinclair QL (& BBC Micro) doing stirling public work.
At the beginning of the year a shout went out to geeks in Oxford to see if anyone could supply computers and ephemera for an exhibition at the Museum of the History of Science (the first purpose built museum in the world) called "Geek is Good", detailing geekdom through the ages back to th...

Re: Sandy Electronics change in direction...
For the longevity of the original QL software I think your marvellous production of the Microdrive pads is a godsend. It's effectively saving the archive for posterity. As for the other stuff, do only as much as you feel that you can and enjoy it. There's no need to push too hard, especially as this...

Re: QL Commercial Software Preservation
I was wondering if you had the "Computer One" editor, assembler, linker suite.
If you don't I have a copy I can get off floppy and send to you. I'm not sure how you'd find the authors though.
