Re: A seat in the lifeboat

Im new to the QL, but I would say that an SD card based mass storage (external or internal) is the one thing that the QL needs most of all. Microdrives are unreliable, disk drives are defunct technology, but solid state card storage would make the QL have a new lease of life. I wish I had the skills...

Re: RWAP - Feedback

Just bought a QL and associated bits from Rich, and am very pleased with everything. Having seen numerous QLs on eBay selling for inflated prices and no real guarantee that they even worked, it is excellent to buy from someone who can be trusted to supply quality parts at a reasonable price.

THANKS!

Re: Microdrive data line format

This looks like a great project, very much on the lines of Dan Antohi's excellent IF1bis for the Spectrum. I know that his whole project is open-source, and being a complete QL novice I dont know whether any of his design and code is of value, but I really like the idea of the SD card becoming a vir...

Re: QL-SD card project

Sorry to butt in to this discussion, but already, within an hour of starting up my first QL I can see the value of an SD card based mass storage system. I have an IF1bis for my Spectrums, which pretends to be a whole load of microdrives, and I think is marvellous.... Surely there is someone out ther...

Re: Where to begin?

Wow... A whole new world is opening up before me! I've only switched the thing on and Im hooked! What astounds me is how different the approach is compared to that of the Spectrum... It took me a while to work out how to delete text, but I'm getting there. I bought an RGB to SCART cable from Retro C...

Re: Where to begin?

I'm on my way home with my new QL tucked in my bag, hoping that my SCART cable has arrived in today's post! First comment is that I didn't realise how small microdrives are! teeny little things! Im looking forwards to trying them out, but I can see that in the medium an external 3.5 inch disk drive ...

Where to begin?

Okay, as I have already mentioned in my 'hello' post, this will be the first of no doubt many dumb questions and queries! Having bought a QL, which I am bringing home tomorrow, what can I do with it?! I have wanted to try/use/own a QL since 1984, because I think it is a fantastic piece of engineerin...

Hello!

Hello from Oxfordshire... I'm just dipping for the first time into the world of the QL, having just bought one from Rich at RWAP (excited to be collecting it from work tomorrow!). I've got a pile of Spectrums, and have got right into the retro computer thing, loving the simplicity and elegance of wh...
