Re: Whats with DEV?
Thanks Derek and Marcel, Yes, SUB would solve my problem. Funny I didnt think of it myself, as the first QL device driver I wrote was functionally similar to the SUB device (I may even have called it DEV?) but Phil Borman pipped me to the post and so I dropped the project before it was properly work...

Re: Whats with DEV?
Hi, Thanks for your comprehensive reply :) Notice the filenames you get out of DEV when you DIR. Unlike the PTH device, DEV is a pure "open-redirector". It opens the new name and gets out of the way completely, it's not even there anymore. So there is no translation of DIR path names! So y...

Whats with DEV?
DEV doesnt appear to work with sub-sub-directories if a sub-directory is part of the definition: If I define DEV thus: DEV_USE 1, "win2_" then I can do DIR DEV1_ and get a list of all files and directories in win2_. So if theres a directory called win2_doc_, then doing DIR dev1_doc_ will l...

Re: SMSQ/2 on Atari
Hi Per, I did get the emulator reading QWA files usingbthe TT mode in tge System option. I dont understand how thats possible. I'll have to try it some day. But, I think eithout any colour, it is not as good as other emulators. I only want to use it for testing certain software in mono mode. As I h...

Re: SMSQ/2 on Atari
Hi Derek, Thanks for that. As I described, I had SMSQ/E up and running last time I tried. The object of the exercize today was to set up a QLWA disk inside the Atari virtual disk, but for some reason SMSQ/E didnt start up at all. I'll try some more next week, perhaps, if the spirit moves me. No need...

Re: SMSQ/2 on Atari
I thought Id have a wee fiddle after all, and so spent a fruitless hour gaining nothing but (painful) experience: I set up the Hatari virtual hard disk and copied what remains of my old setup to it. Everything seemed fine, even Calamus loaded and ran, but SMSQE337 would not boot. It hung forever on ...

Re: SMSQ/2 on Atari
Derek, I believe I used to know this stuff, but it is now so long ago, I dont remember the details any more. IIRC you need to create a suitable partition table on the hard disk first. I seem to recall using a version of a program called fdisk for this. The partition table is located in sector 0 of t...

Re: SMSQ/2 on Atari
I guess the "proper" way to do this would be to take the Atari virtual hard disk and partition that with fdisk to create the required QLWA partitions. Getting the stuff over from a QXL.WIN system after that could be a fiddly job, as it would require an intermediate medium both sides can ta...

Re: SMSQ/2 on Atari
Pity. I dont have time to try to figure it out myself right now.Derek_Stewart wrote:Sorry, I made a mistake in the message, I could not read the hard drive QWA file.pjw wrote:Yes, looks hot, eh How did you get it to read a .win file, though?Derek_Stewart wrote:Hi,
I have the Hatari emulator booting into SMSQ/E v3.37, in glorius monochrome.
