Re: Can we learn from Amiga OS?

Speed. C is, compared to pure machine code, typically about 2 to 5 times slower. This might be true for C68, but does not correlate with my own experience using GCC 2.95. I often had cases where I thought I wrote nice machine code, but the GCC result was faster! (A little machine code for critical ...

Can we learn from Amiga OS?

In the "Beyond Super Gold Card" topic an interesting point was raised: For me, figures like this prove again that ideas of native hardware with Raspberry as coprocessor are pointless. I would have to agree with Peter on this. And AROS (Amiga Research Operating System, an AmigaOS 3.1 compat...

Re: Beyond Super Gold Card

For me, figures like this prove again that ideas of native hardware with Raspberry as coprocessor are pointless. I would have to agree with Peter on this. And AROS (Amiga Research Operating System, an AmigaOS 3.1 compatible OS) proves you can take and old 68k OS and "convert" it to other ...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

- Q68: mouse work always, keyboard not From what was said earlier, it was not like it just does "not work". There was some effect on keypresses, even a number of characters working correctly before strange effects started. Could you please describe the behaviour, instead of just saying it...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

How do you convert the PS/2 to serial, using an appropriate converter? No conversion, just a passive adaptor. He seems to use a PS/2 & serial combo device. The Q60 never had PS/2 mouse support, so it can not work with a USB-PS/2 converter mouse-wise. Only keyboard. But I'm not sure Fabrizio act...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

It is a Logitech PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse Set Wireless, Keyb and Mouse are wireless, the Logitech receiver has two PS/2 cables that end-up one in the Q60 socket for keyboard and one with the "mouse Ps/2" (green one) end up with an adapter in the ser2 of the Q60. Hopefully you were not talk...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

It is arrived.... for Q68 I can confirm what it was said before: mouse always working, keyboard not. The keyboard after few second start repeating the last character inserted. It seems that Fabrizios keyboard again behaves different to the ones tested before, very unclear picture. A precise descrip...

Cypress SL81HST: USB 1.1 Host/Slave controller with microprocessor bus interface
Texas Instruments TUSB2046: 4-port USB 2.0 12-Mbps USB hub
The third IC must be a microcontroller, connected to the SL81HST.

Re: Q68 Serial devices

The unpowered hub is reproducible in that the keyboard right away behaves differently. This sort of contradicts thoughts about PS/2 side buffering and pullups. Can you test a different power supply? BTW, what is "Pause" as I'm having trouble identifying that on my Dell keyboards. Maybe &q...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

Tried yet another keyboard (one of the newer Dell models) and typed one key at a time, pausing a second each time. After 10 to 12 key presses it starts misbehaving. That would not point to a buffering issue. Does it never misbehave for the first few keys? Is the number of working keypresses before ...
