Re: Hooking up modem that draws power from serial port

On the Q68, DTR (Pin 4) and RTS (Pin 7) which are used by serial mice. Only 5V though. Mice work, modems I don't know.

Re: QL Pico VGA

I found this diagram very helpful, I think the one of the original project is not very clear and seems to show pin 4 as grounded. It is actually a possible source of problems. It shows pin 11 not grounded, which will cause some monitors to fail. Wiring is correct in the schematics I have published.

16 MB was a lot back in those days ;)

Re: Switching Regulator?

The switching regulators apparently tend to create initial spikes on their power output that seems to disturb the QL's power-on-reset circuitry. Current spikes at the input are typical, unless there is a soft start feature. But a severe voltage spike at the output of a switching regulator means a m...

Re: SMSQ/E on Atari

I found an old QL-Toady article [...] Typo or intention? ;) As I apparently can't find any code that accesses Atari-native file systems (I really did not search exhausively, though), I am a bit at loss here. Isn't Atari-native is the same as FAT16 except slight differences? Maybe there simply is no...

Re: Software updates

PS: Regarding the name of the default containers in win1_, it seems more comfortable to me that it be called QXL.WIN (that's what I call it in my SMSQE systems). I name my emulator containers QXL.WIN (usually on a PC's harddisk and fragmented) and my native hardware containers (usually on SD card) ...

Maybe answer that email and ask about alternative payment options?

tofro wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2024 5:43 pm They are. But I (personally, you don't have to share my opinion, of course) don't feel like they are that easily achievable.
How does your (yet unreleased) native FAT32 driver behave with regard to long file/path lengths?

Derek_Stewart wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:04 pm SMSQ/E does not have the use of Slave Blocks, pity it could be run on a QL from rom, replacing Minerva or QDOS without a Super/Gold Card.
SMSQ/E for the QL would indeed make some sense, but the SLAVEing problem with (otherwise) fast mass storage is the same under SMSQ/E.
