Re: NOOB QUESTION: learning machine code
you'll probably need more than one book - as there's 68000 assembly programming - and then there's the specific application of programmming 68008 code on the Sinclair QL. The book Dilwyn mentions is a good one, for more general techniques I found the cybex "Programming the 68000" a useful ...

Re: Minerva - In need of some help please
Dilwyn has a useful list of some of the ROMS associated with the QL and it's peripherals - there are some Sandy ones amongst the list:

I wonder if it's worth including this in your article when you publish it? - as it's a good illustration for those of us that are prone to making mistakes like this (I am including myself in that).

Re: QL Eprom programmer
Has anyone got a dissassmbly of the QEPIII ROM ? I think if we had that it might be an easier task to expand the capabilities. I would add these as wish list items too: 1) use a different device/devices to address the I/O so that the E signal is no longer required - the 6821's used kind of force tha...

Here is a very interesting vendor from Poland that has several available batches of 8749 IPC chips. Ignore the first 4 which are one time programmable used, hence already programmed and not erasable. https://www.ebay.de/str/tvsatelectronic/IC-Microcontroller/_i.html?_storecat=18701871014&_sop=2...

It's a shame we can't use HTML like tags
e.g.

Personally I love a good emoticon

Re: Norm's "mere" woman sentence.
I saw it was in quotes so assumed it was meant to be taken tongue in cheek. I do have a problem with the over censoring that now seems to be creeping into IT - The product I work with - NetBackup - has the concept of a Master server - but now it seems our documents need rewriting to call these "...

Re: Backplane and other problems
looking at the circuit diagram for the medic- it also uses the same SP0-SP3 decoding scheme as the QEPIII - meaning if your backplane doesn't alter any of these SPx signals - the QEPIII and Medic disk interface are trying to use the same address. If you cut the line for SP0 on the backplane after th...

Re: Backplane and other problems
QEPIII also uses the synchronous bus signal E which is not provided by Gold or SuperGold cards.
