No, it's not a C++ compiler. Even for QDOS-GCC, which ist closer to that, the effort for C++ support was seen as quite prohibitive.

Re: QL / PASCAL

This is my first post in this forum. Glad to be here. So I'm Karoly Balogh (a.k.a Charlie on the demoscene, a.k.a. Chain-Q on IRC and various other forums), the maintainer of the Free Pascal m68k port, and I also wrote a big chunk of the new/resurrected m68k backend a few years back. A warm welcome...

Re: QL / PASCAL

Yes, it's kind of a sensation and I wonder why I didn't see any coverage here.
Karoly Balogh is under the impression that QL clones are extreme rarities - could be helpful to let him know that many active QL users have a Q68.

Re: QL / PASCAL

Yes I was positively shocked to read it, because new compiler support for the QL didn't appear for ages. FreePascal seems to have good 68K support. If only primitive text based programs can be created, I will probably stick with C68 / QDOS-GCC. But any step toward GUI would make this really interest...

Re: QL / PASCAL

I was surprised to see there seems to be an experimental Sinclair QL port of Free Pascal: https://wiki.freepascal.org/Sinclair_QL Did anyone try it yet? The port was done by Karoly Balogh, is he on this forum? I wonder if there is any chance to port one of the GUI libraries that exist around Free Pa...

Re: centronics interface schematics???

Yes a RS232 driver would be needed. Usually a matter of 5€ (or 2€ chinese). Also avaliable inside cables.

Re: centronics interface schematics???

It is not the UART - it is the GPIO pin transmission - the serial pins are the i2c pins so far as I understand. GPIO would not be used, as the Retro printer board is not needed when no parallel port data is involved. I just ment to skip the steps SER-PAR, PAR-RetroPrinter and RetroPrinter-RPi. And ...

Re: centronics interface schematics???

The serial GPIO pins on the Raspberry Pi are possibly too slow to be honest for some of the printer data unless you buffer it (and are used by the Retro-Printer interface). I don't understand what you mean here. How could the Raspberry UART be too slow to receive data from a QL (or even Q68) SER po...

Re: Q68 support thread

I tried it today after the Q68 had been off all night. Same thing. But that's ok, a working ball mouse is much better than none at all. Just let me add, this has nothing to do with your mouse being optical. I have five mice that are optical and work fine with the Q68. If you need a specific link to...

Re: Q68 support thread

I'm wondering if I'm going completely mad and that it never worked.... but I'm sure I started QLE and it was working at the weekend. I could imagine a race condition between the microcontroller inside the mouse and the Q68 bootloader. In contrast to PCs, the Q68 boots extremely fast, so the mouse n...
