Re: Backplane and other problems
ASL isn't used on standard QL expansions - so that could be cut with no issues. QEPIII probably expects to be at 0c0000 - but it's designed to use the slot select lines SP0-SP3 - which are all 0v from the QL - hence that default first address for the QEP card. Does your backplane alter the SP0-SP3 l...

Re: Problem booting Super Gold Card
It was a note on the aurora manuals - which is why that signal was still provided on the bus

Re: Problem booting Super Gold Card
I wonder if the use of vsync signal to the FDC is just a cheeky way of knowing the state of that signal, so you know when you are in vertical flyback?

Re: Problem booting Super Gold Card
I never noticed that before!
I know the Gold card doesn't use CSYNC signal - but I believe the SGC does - for refresh clock for DRAMS - so might be worth checking that signal is not mis-wired somewhere in the cable for the monitor...

Is it connected to the FLP chip? That seems odd if it is.

Re: Still possible to get Minerva ROM
Except that QL time is taken from the 4 bytes of the seconds counter in the Zx8302 - and all the other RTC offerings in super gold card or the Minerva MKII with I2C clock chip just update that with their own time - so it comes back to the question - if you are going to replace both ZX8302 and IPC - ...

Re: Still possible to get Minerva ROM
Because, Winback! :D (Other hard disc backup applications are available of course!) I didn't see any battery in the pictures & the green pot makes the RTC sound as real as a plastic apple. Wouldn't a software clock that you set at turn on do the same job? the battery is connected by a pair of w...

Re: Still possible to get Minerva ROM
It's probably also useful in correctly time stamping files you might be writing to a disk - makes it easier then to know which copy might be the latest one? and bearing in mind the stock seconds counter in the ZX8302 is probably going to have some wonderful random garbage in it when it starts - so w...

Re: MDUMP TASK ?
If it's helpful - I think you can specify upto 80K of ROM image for the first file - so you can concatenate ROM Images together
e.g. 48K QL ROM + 16K (for ROMPORT) + 16K (this would be in the first 16K reserved space - where gold, trump etc. sit) - You can't then use backrom.

Re: At last... I'm making proper PCBs for my vDrive sound board.
I have to say I was initially sceptical about this - believing it to be 'window dressing' - but on watching the youtube - it does give you that reassurance that the vdrive is being accessed - as you sometimes miss looking at the LED if you are distracted elsewhere...
