Cypress SL81HST: USB 1.1 Host/Slave controller with microprocessor bus interface
Texas Instruments TUSB2046: 4-port USB 2.0 12-Mbps USB hub
The third IC must be a microcontroller, connected to the SL81HST.

Re: Q68 Serial devices

The unpowered hub is reproducible in that the keyboard right away behaves differently. This sort of contradicts thoughts about PS/2 side buffering and pullups. Can you test a different power supply? BTW, what is "Pause" as I'm having trouble identifying that on my Dell keyboards. Maybe &q...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

Tried yet another keyboard (one of the newer Dell models) and typed one key at a time, pausing a second each time. After 10 to 12 key presses it starts misbehaving. That would not point to a buffering issue. Does it never misbehave for the first few keys? Is the number of working keypresses before ...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

Also, I am in touch with BlackBox tech support and forwarded them a question regarding buffering. They did respond to me initially which I was surprised since the product is 15 years old. Very surprising indeed. I'm not typing fast enough to overload the Q68 at 50 characters per second as I'm typin...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

My suspicion would be that the converter might have no buffer. At the moment, the Q68 fetches keycodes with a rate of up to 50 per second. The Q68 hardware the tells the keyboard not to send more, until a recent keycode was processed. In that case, the internal buffer of the keyboard holds the code ...

Re: Q68 Serial devices

Thanks for the update, that will be interesting, especially when it comes to the mouse interface. If it works okay, could you please create a new topic with suitable headline, so people actually notice there is such a converter? Maybe even under "Hardware", as it is not really Q68 specific...

Re: Q68 Crashes

Is there any indication that the crash occurs without using QD B.05?

Re: Q68 Crashes

Also maybe try the same same setup on a different computer with the same SMSQ/E configuration, this would check if the Q68 or SMSQ/E is causing the problem Even if it appears to work elsewhere, that does not necessarily mean the Q68 is at fault. Different machines have different memory layouts and ...

Re: Q68 Crashes

Q68 hasn't given me any problems (other that it tends to forget the clock every now and then when switched off for more than 4 weeks) since I have it and I use it heavily The Q68 uses a SuperCap with a capacity of 100000 µF for clock backup. At design time, larger SuperCaps were still expensive. I ...
