Hi Urs,

Great video, lots of interesting computer equipment.

I used to us a QL to connect t Unix mainframes via QTPI and a USR Robotics modem.

Did they have a Cray running?

Re: QL Not Starting Up

Hi,

If you had Minerva in rom, it would of given code
. The code can identify the ram chip which is faulty, via the programme:ramfail_bas on the Minverva support disk or download from Dilwyn's web site. Pre-Minerva the ram has to individually tested.

Re: Starting with C on the QL

Hi Tom,

I think recompiling on a modern version is a really good idea.

I will see if I can do this on my 64Bit Ubuntu 14.04 laptop.

Re: Double 3.5 disk drive issue.

Hi,

You do not need to cut the cables.

I usually straighten all the twists from the PC cable and twist lines 10-12 and make a new connection on the IDC connector.

With regards to the Disk Interface, try cleaning all the plug-in chips, as the legs on the ICs can become oxidised.

Re: Starting with C on the QL

Hi Peter, I have got QDOS-GCC working on a Virtual Machine running Redhat 7, which does not really solve the problem of the system running on a modern version of GCC. The makefile does not recognise my 64Bit Ubuntu 14.04 System, which has GCC v4.8.2 I am not sure if I have the knowledge to modify th...

Re: Starting with C on the QL

Hi, Thank you for the correction. I like using C68 on the QL, but GCC coompiled QL binaries would nicer. I compiled the QDOS-GCC files in a Virtual Machine running Redhat 9 OK, my main machine 64Bit Ubuntu, the makefile did not know about the version of Linux. I dumped the QDOS GCC web page to My Ki...

Re: Blank Output from QL / Dodgy Trump Card

Hi Rich,

If you plug in Minerva, the ram test will display an error code and a programme on the support disk will tell you the memory location in the internal ram and identify the ram chip.

Re: Starting with C on the QL

Hi, I forgot about the link on THierry's Web site to the GCC port. I will have a loook at GCC and see if it is better. Do you know if Franz Herrman is is still around. I am re-learning programming after a long time out only considering hardware. I was mainly considering on C68, as this is an ANSI co...
