Re: Amstrad CPC6128 (partially working) £FREE

Exile: Sounds great. I'll PM you and we can get something sorted. Also I'm sorry to hear about the redundancy, been there, done that, it sucks. Derek: I didn't want to post it due to size/bulk and I'd rather not be left with the monitor as I would just take it to recycling and that would be a shame....

Amstrad CPC6128 (partially working) £FREE

Hi, I have rather too many old computers, including two CPC6128s. I'm keeping one, but have the other + the matching colour monitor that I'd like to give to a retro-loving home. No cost, unless you want to donate something to a charity of your choice (not required and I won't ask for proof even if y...

Re: Quill from Gilsoft

This article mentions the author of the QL version. He may still have a copy of the A08 version? Long shot, but you never know. http://8-bit.info/2017/01/22/the-gilsoft-legacy/ Seems like he has a github page (Linux filesystem stuff). Assuming it's the same person. https://github.com/huwpowell?tab=r...

Re: QLTerminal v2.35 with TheOldNet WiFi v4

I never got back to report on progress, or lack thereof. The latter actually - my modem already has the latest v4 firmware (which is buggy), and I'm not sure whether a new firmware will ever be released. A pity. It was fun for all of a few minutes to get online with the QL. :P

Re: Stephen Hawking letter to Clive Sinclair

@bwinkle67 I'd never heard of that system or indeed the company until the post on Mastodon. Interesting history. I found this pdf which may bring back some fond memories for you - if it's the right system? http://www.1000bit.it/ad/bro/charles/CharlesRiverSystem-Universe.pdf @onescomplement: thanks f...

Stephen Hawking letter to Clive Sinclair

Not sure if this is already known. It was new to me so thought I’d share.

The Rubber Keyed Wonder: 40 years of the ZX Spectrum

A couple of years ago I backed a Kickstarter to bring a documentary on the Speccy to life. https://www.graciousfilms.com/products/the-rubber-keyed-wonder The film was released as an early-access digital download a few days ago and I watched it last night. I'm not sure what the plans are for releasin...

Re: Z88 power supply

First things first: I got the Z88 out of storage and it does still work (a slight high pitched sound when I inserted the batteries though - anyone know why this should be? I could not tell from what end of the beast as my hearing is not great at higher frequencies. So now to that power supply. I've ...

Re: Z88 power supply

Thanks everyone, I'll go look for some online and if you don't mind before I potentially blow up the Z88 I'll post links here for what I've found for advice/confirmation before I press buy.
